Albany Berkshire Ballet

Recognized nationally for its versatility in performing both classical and contemporary dance works, the Albany Berkshire Ballet rivals the works of any other large performing company today. Originally known as the Berkshire Ballet Guild and later as the Berkshire Civic Ballet, the company’s original intent was an outlet for the school’s advanced students. Soon pushed past the original scope, the company emerged with full-time professional status serving the Northeastern United States and Canada. In 1989, the company took up residence in Albany where it shares its dedication to excellence with residents and visitors alike.

The Egg Performing Arts Complex

This unique building named for its architectural shape was designed by Wallace Harrison and completed in 1978 for the people of New York State and to accommodate many events and performances. Architecturally The Egg is without precedent and, from a distance, looks as much like a sculpture as a building. The Egg houses two theatres—the Lewis A. Swyer Theatre used for chamber music concerts, lectures, solo performers and educational programming-- and the Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre which is utilized for larger performances including musical theatre, dance and musical concerts.
